We really liked the Seat Ibiza for a small family car. It has a stylish look about it and we feel it will tick many boxes on those family essentials lists.

There are 6 trims: SE, SE Technology, FR, FR Sport, Xcellence and Xcellence Lux.  We drove the FR in automatic.  It was great fun to drive and moved when we wanted it to thanks to its turbo engine.

The interior of the Seat Ibiza looks slick and stylish. It comes with a 6.5 inch touchscreen but move up to the next model (SE Technology) and the touchscreen is 8 inch.  We loved the larger size, making it much easier to manipulate and navigate whilst on the move. However, being situated below the air con vents, will mean you’ll have to glance downwards. There is also the all-important smartphone integration, allowing you to access your phone’s apps on the touchscreen.

The steering wheel is a great size and has a sporty look and feel about it. Dual climate control is available from the FR trim upwards and for an even sportier feel a “digital cockpit” (where the speedometer and rev dial are digital instead of analogue) is available on the FR Sport trim upwards. This does add an extra air of extravagance about it!

The mirrors provide good visibility when parking.  Rear parking sensors are an extra option on the lower 4 trims, but they come as standard from the Xcellence and upwards.  However, if a rear-view camera is on your must have list, then op for the Xcellence Lux.

Seats & Passenger Space

The synthetic seats are wipeable (let’s hope so with kids!) and comfy but sadly leather is not an option. There is plenty of leg and head space in the front and back. 2 adults would fit comfortably in the rear, with a 3rd adult in the centre feeling somewhat cosy!

There are 2 ISOFIX points in the back. We had no problems fitting 2 large child seats and a smaller booster seat in the centre on the rear bench, meaning the Seat Ibiza is perfect for growing families, car shares or playdates!

Cups & Cubby

The all-important cupholders are central in between the 2 front seats but are on the small side.  You certainly wouldn’t get a coffee cup in there.  There is a small storage tray behind the gear stick for phones, keys etc and the glove box is a decent size.

In the back, the door bins are a good size and will easily accommodate a water bottle and there is a central storage tray by their feet for the kids to fight over – joy!

Boot Space

The boot is a fabulous size for a small car, one of the biggest in its class.  You can easily fit a stroller in their whilst leaving plenty of space for a few bits of shopping, school bags etc.  However, you will not get a pram in there.

The boot floor is not flush and there is a small drop at the boot entrance meaning you’re going to have to lift items up and over to get them in and out.  This seems to be the case in most small cars, as this gives the maximum about of boot space possible.

Overall, we really liked the Seat Ibiza, it’s fun, stylish and incredibly easy to drive.  Although it is classed as a small car, it’s worth noting that it is on the “larger side of small.”  We found it perfectly adequate for everyday family needs.  Being able to fit 3 children comfortably on the back seat with a good sized boot for a car of this class are big wins in our eyes.
